Akin Advises American Zinc Recycling on Sale of Canadian Subsidiary

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump has advised American Zinc Recycling LLC on the sale of its Canadian subsidiary, Zochem Inc., to an American strategic purchaser, Zinc Oxide LLC. As part of the cross-border transaction, Zinc Oxide LLC acquired all of Zochem’s Canada-based manufacturing operations and product lines as well as its domestic and international distribution network. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Prior to the sale of Zochem, Akin Gump had advised American Zinc Recycling during its Chapter 11 reorganization, which resulted in the company’s successful emergence in September 2016. The divestiture of Zochem Inc. represents a key component in the advancement of American Zinc Recycling’s strategic initiatives post-emergence.
