(Moscow) – Akin Gump is advising Mail.ru Group Limited, a leading Internet and IT company in Russia, on the formation of a joint venture between its ESforce e-sports business and games producer Modern Pick. The signing was announced by Mail.ru today.

The transaction will allow Mail.ru Group and Modern Pick to build a diversified e-sports and e-gaming business with a well-developed presence in Russia/CIS and across Europe. It will also provide access to a broader games portfolio and expertise in games development, e-sports teams, broadcasting, video production, streaming, tournament organization and venues, combined with an extensive set of media and global brand partnerships.

The transaction envisages Mail.ru transferring a 51 percent stake of ESforce into Modern Pick and is expected to close shortly.
