(Abu Dhabi) – Akin Gump is pleased to report that, in its Middle East & Africa Awards, Project Finance International recognized the Sweihan solar photovoltaic (PV) project as the “Middle East & Africa Power Deal of the Year.”

Akin Gump advised Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) and its parent, Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company (ADWEC) in the development and financing of the project. Sweihan is on track to be the world’s largest solar PV plant.

Last month, the Sweihan deal team was awarded “Infrastructure & Energy Team of the Year” at The Oath Middle East Legal Awards 2017 (learn more here). The firm’s work on this project was also recognized at Legal Week and Association of Corporate Counsel’s Middle East Legal Awards (learn more here). The deal was also shortlisted for “Project Finance Deal of the Year” at the IFLR Middle East Awards (learn more here).
