Akin Gump Advises on Solar Power Deal Shortlisted for IFLR Middle East Awards 2017

(Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) – Akin Gump has advised on a deal that has been shortlisted for the IFLR Middle East Awards 2017. The firm was named a finalist for its work advising on the Sweihan PV solar power generation project, which was nominated in the ‘Project Finance Deal of the Year’ category.

The Sweihan Solar PV Independent Power Project, slated to be the world’s largest solar plant, represents an important part of the United Arab Emirates’ clean energy plans and enhances Abu Dhabi’s regional leadership in sustainability. Akin Gump clients Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) and Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company (ADWEC) successfully achieved financial closing for the 1,177 MW project in Abu Dhabi in May 2017. The winners of the IFLR Middle East Awards 2017 will be announced at a dinner in Dubai on October 18.
