Akin Gump Honored by KIPP for Its Decade of Service

(Los Angeles) – Akin Gump is proud to announce that it has been recognized by KIPP Public Charter Schools for its 10 years of service as the organization’s national pro bono partner. The firm’s service and contributions to the nonprofit were recognized last night during the Investors & Partners dinner at the annual KIPP School Summit, held in Atlanta, Ga.
KIPP is a nonprofit nationwide network of college-preparatory, public charter schools serving elementary, middle and high school students. The organization, founded in 1994, has 200 schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia, serving nearly 80,000 students in educationally underserved communities, whom it prepares for success in college and life.
Akin Gump has provided more than 17,800 pro bono hours to KIPP over the past decade as part of a strategic partnership formed and fostered by the firm’s pro bono practice. Through this partnership, Akin Gump has had the opportunity to apply the firm’s legal skills and experience at KIPP locations across the country to assist the organization in meeting its goals and expanding the network of communities it serves. The partnership has seen Akin Gump lawyers participating on KIPP’s national and regional boards, Akin Gump Pro Bono Scholars embedded at KIPP locations nationwide, and lawyers from practices across the firm putting their legal skills to work in support of advancing KIPP’s mission.
