(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce its 2020 class of Akin Gump/Robert Strauss Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship recipients. The class—at 11 Scholars, the largest in the program’s six-year history—brings to five firm offices outstanding diverse students at U.S. law schools. This year’s class will have the opportunity to attend a virtual summit that gathers firm leaders and former Strauss Scholars for educational programming, networking and leadership advice; participate in seminars; and join in firm diversity and inclusion discussions.

Each Scholar will be affiliated with one of Akin Gump’s five largest U.S. offices—Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. —and will receive a $25,000 scholarship to help offset law school expenses as well as an offer to join the firm’s second-year summer associate program in 2021.

Akin Gump firmwide hiring partner David Botter said, “We are extremely happy to welcome our 11 Scholars this summer and to offer them a robust and meaningful virtual summer program that will give them valuable, firsthand insights into the firm and practice of law. Maintaining a pipeline of diverse talent into the firm has never ceased being a top priority for us, and we are proud that, even in this challenging environment, we have been able to assemble a program that aims to offer a practical and rewarding experience to all of our Scholars.”
