(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump announced today the launch of its Innovation Series, a suite of programs hosted in its Washington, D.C. office focused on transformative developments at the intersection of business and government. The series is designed to educate participants on next-generation developments in a range of areas, focusing on innovations that involve the collaboration of industry and government players.

The series kicks off this month with a November 7 program focused on spectrum sharing, led by Akin Gump communications and information technology partner Jennifer Richter.

“The issues we are highlighting with this series are not Washington issues—these are national issues that will impact businesses in every sector and segment of our economy,” stated Tony Pierce, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Washington, D.C. office. “However, they’re also issues that demand collaboration between the private sector and the government. Attendees at these events will not only learn about developments that are driving these innovations, but also the way business and government are working together to bring them to fruition.”

For the November 7 event, Ms. Richter will moderate a panel of wireless industry leaders who will discuss how spectrum sharing will transform spectrum management and enable new innovations in entertainment and retail venues, transportation hubs, smart cities and consumer wireless services.

“As a firm that sits at the intersection of business and government, we are looking to shed light on the ways that private industry and the government are working together to bring exciting ideas to market,” said Ms. Richter. “We also want to share these developments with the broader business community. These events are intended to be both social and informative, and get people thinking about how technology in many fields is transforming the future for us all.”
