Akin Gump Named a Finalist for 2016 Thomas L. Sager Award

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump has been selected as one of three nationwide finalists for the 2016 Thomas L. Sager Award.
The Thomas L. Sager Award is presented annually by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) recognizing law firms “that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys.” The award recipient will be profiled in Diversity & the Bar, the organization’s official magazine. The winner will be announced July 19 at the MCCA Diversity Gala in Washington.
Akin Gump has won the Sager Award four times, going back to the award’s debut in 1999—one of only two firms to have been recognized four or more times. Akin Gump senior counsel Vernon E. Jordan Jr. was honored as the first recipient of MCCA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
