Akin Gump Promotes International Energy Lawyer Bill Alexander to Partner in Houston

(Houston, Texas) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has promoted William A. Alexander to partner. Mr. Alexander, a member of the firm’s energy and global transactions (EGT) practice, has more than 30 years of experience in energy-related matters – from upstream to downstream, including LNG – in both the domestic and international arenas.

Bill is a talented international lawyer and an important asset to Akin Gump’s energy team,” said Michael Dillard, who leads the firm’s EGT practice. “With matters spanning 60 countries and the United States, Bill has a wealth of firsthand energy experience that will serve our clients well.”

Mr. Alexander’s practice focuses on domestic and international (both onshore and offshore) oil and gas exploration, development, production and transportation activities; energy-related mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; privatizations and capitalizations; sale and purchase of natural gas and power (both physical and financial); energy marketing and trading activities; acquisitions of energy marketing and trading entities and assets; pipeline and refinery projects; and FEED and EPC contracts, including those associated with offshore energy development and production projects, pipelines, refining and LNG-related projects.

A graduate of the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law, Mr. Alexander serves on the advisory board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. He is a member of the Center for American and International Law and the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations, a former chairman of the ABA’s International Resources Committee and a former member of the Houston Roundtable of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. An original member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, he has served as an officer and director of the AIPN and is a current member of its International Unitization and Unit Operating Agreement Committee. He is a member of the Asia Society and the World Trade Council. He currently serves on the executive advisory board of the Japan America Society, for which he has also served as a director. He also serves on the advisory board of the South Texas College of Law Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution.
