Akin Gump Receives Western Center on Law & Poverty’s Pro Bono Award
(Los Angeles) – Akin Gump is the recipient of this year’s Max Gillam Pro Bono Award from the Western Center on Law & Poverty. The firm received the award at the organization’s annual Garden Party, which was held virtually.
The Garden Party highlights the Western Center’s ongoing efforts to end poverty in California, which include securing housing, health care and a strong safety net for low-income Californians through the lens of racial equity.
Akin Gump litigation partner Susan Leader accepted the award on behalf of the firm, which served as pro bono co-counsel with the Western Center in a recent case involving home- and community-based mental health services for thousands of children and youth involved with Los Angeles County’s foster care system.
