(New York) – The American Lawyer has ranked Akin Gump among the top firms for M&A and private equity advisory work for 2013.

Akin Gump took 12th place for the number of M&A deals on which it advised, according to data compiled by the publication. These deals include the firm’s representation of True Religion Apparel Inc. in its merger with TowerBrook Capital Partners L.P. and Crestwood Midstream Partners LP in its merger with Inergy Midstream L.P.

In the area of private equity, Akin Gump was in 10th place by number of deals, including one on which it advised Paulson & Co. in its acquisition of Steinway Musical Instruments, which was recognized in The American Lawyer’s “Dealmakers of the Year” issue.

The rankings are based on deals valued at $100 million or more that were announced, but not necessarily completed, with a North America–based target.

Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
