Akin Gump Scores Highly in 2012 Summer Associates Survey
(Washington, D.C.) Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has once again placed in the top 20 nationally in the annual The American Lawyer Summer Associates Survey. Each of the firm’s surveyed offices was ranked in the top 10 in its respective market, which included first-place rankings in Dallas and Los Angeles, a third-place ranking in Houston, a sixth-place ranking in Washington, D.C. and a seventh-place ranking in New York. The firm scored a 4.9 out of a possible 5.0 nationally, an increase over its 2011 score in the survey.
David Botter, Akin Gump’s firmwide hiring and professional development partner, remarked, “We are very pleased our score continues to rise. It demonstrates that our efforts to provide a rich and rewarding experience for our summer associates through quality work assignments, training and mentoring had a very strong impact on our 2012 class.”
The Summer Associates Survey is based on responses received from over 4,100 summer associates from nearly 140 firms across the country. Rankings are determined by responses to questions contained in the survey covering issues such as how interesting the work was and how much of it was “real,” how the training and guidance measured up, the quality of the interactions with partners and with associates, how well the firm communicated its goals and expectations, the accuracy of the firm’s portrayal of itself in interviews and the respondents’ inclination to accept a position if one were offered.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a leading international law firm, numbers more than 800 lawyers and advisors in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
