Akin Gump Success at Women in Business Law Awards 2022 EMEA

(London) – Akin Gump is proud to share that it received the Pro Bono Work: International Firm of the Year award at the seventh annual Women in Business Law Awards 2022 EMEA, with corporate tax partner Sophie Donnithorne-Tait being named Tax Lawyer of the Year.
The awards celebrate groundbreaking achievements by the EMEA’s leading female lawyers as well as the most progressive law firms and in-house teams in terms of their gender policies, advocacy and support of women in the practice of law.
Akin Gump was recognized for its work on several female focussed opportunities. The Pro Bono team have worked with a number of organisations including Vital Voices, who identify and support female leaders by providing them leadership training and mentorship to help their organisations take on systemic challenges such as gender-based violence. The team have also worked with Women of Impact, who support women-led social enterprises in helping them scale and become more sustainable so they can have the greatest social impact possible.
The practice’s work has recently been recognized with a number of awards, including Legalweek’s Innovations in Pro Bono (learn more here) as well as several from and the 2021 Law Society of Hong Kong Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme (learn more here).
Ms. Donnithorne-Tait’s recognition follows her naming to Law.com’s Rising Stars 2022 list of up-and-coming women in law (learn more here). Ms Donnithorne-Tait advises on all aspects of U.K. corporate tax, with particular experience in financial restructurings and investment funds.
