Akin Gump Support of 2017 Food From The Bar Campaign Earns Multiple Awards

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is proud to announce that, through its participation in the annual month-long Food From The Bar campaign, its D.C. office members donated $28,475, which will help provide 71,187 meals to those in need in the nation’s capital. Twenty-five D.C. lawyers and staff also volunteered for a morning at sponsoring organization Capital Area Food Bank, while the office, as a whole, donated 376 pounds of nutritious food. Additionally, the D.C. office partnered with nearby restaurant I Ricchi, which donated to the effort the net proceeds from Akin Gump lunches during several days in May.

In recognition of the results it garnered, Team Akin Gump was awarded the Food from the Bar 2017 Best All-Around Award, in addition to the Finish Line Award for the largest donation on the final day of the campaign.

Food From The Bar is the legal community’s response to hunger in Washington, D.C., as law firms and legal professionals compete to support the Capital Area Food Bank’s mission of providing meals to children, seniors and families in need. This is the third consecutive year that Akin Gump has participated in the campaign.
