(Los Angeles) – Akin Gump has secured a significant attorneys’ fees award on behalf of 24 Hour Fitness USA (24HF) totaling approximately $1 million in fees and costs.

The award follows a complete defense victory against Champion Fitness LLC in binding arbitration concerning Champion’s alleged right to participate in the $1.85 billion sale of the 24HF business. The $1 million award represents 90 percent of 24HF’s attorneys’ fees and 100 percent of its costs incurred in connection with the arbitration.

Susan Leader, a partner in Akin Gump’s litigation practice, led the team representing 24 Hour Fitness. She was joined by senior counsel Hyongsoon Kim and associate Erica Elizabeth Abshez.

Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
