Akin Gump Wins Law Firm of the Year Award

(Dallas, Texas) - Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. received the Law Firm of the Year award at the 19th Annual Pro Bono Awards and Volunteer Recognition Event in Dallas. The October 4 event was sponsored by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, a joint program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Services of North Texas.
This is the third consecutive year in which Akin Gump has been named Law Firm of the Year. This year, the firm shared the award with the law firm of Hughes & Luce.
Akin Gump litigation associate Susan L. Hays received the 2001 Attorney of the Year Award. Ms. Hays co-founded Jane’s Due Process, Inc., a statewide legal services non-profit organization to assist minors seeking a judicial bypass, and argued Holy Cross Church of God v. Johnny Wolf before the Supreme Court of Texas, resulting in a favorable result for the Church and a major change to Texas real estate law.
Akin Gump paralegal Celeste Boden received the 2001 Support of the Year award. Ms. Boden regularly assists Akin Gump lawyers in numerous guardianship and probate cases.
