Anthony Pierce to Receive Legal Aid Society’s Servant of Justice Award

(Washington, D.C.) – Anthony T. Pierce, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Washington, D.C. office, has been named one of this year’s Servant of Justice Award winners by the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. The Servant of Justice Awards recognize individuals or organizations who have demonstrated “faithful dedication and remarkable achievement in ensuring that all persons have equal and meaningful access to justice.”
In selecting Mr. Pierce for this honor, the Legal Aid Society noted his efforts to promote “both by word and by deed, access to legal services for vulnerable residents across DC.” In fact, the organization notes, “enhancing access to justice for low-income DC residents is a core part of Mr. Pierce’s personal and professional identity.” He has served on Legal Aid’s Board of Trustees for more than 20 years, including a term as president from 2006 to 2008.
Past recipients of the Servant of Justice Award include Vernon E. Jordan Jr., senior counsel at Akin Gump; Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund; and former U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr.
Mr. Pierce will be recognized at the 30th Annual Servant of Justice Awards Dinner taking place on April 25.
