Antitrust Litigator Corey Roush Joins Akin Gump in Washington

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump today announced that Corey W. Roush has joined the firm as a partner in its litigation and antitrust practices in Washington, D.C. Mr. Roush, who focuses on antitrust and consumer protection litigation and investigations, as well as white collar defense, internal investigations and other complex commercial litigation, comes to Akin Gump from Hogan Lovells.

Mr. Roush’s practice consists of representing large national and international companies in various jurisdictions throughout the United States and before government agencies on antitrust, consumer protection and False Claims Act/kickback qui tam cases and investigations. Over the years, he has defended both pre- and post-consummation merger litigation brought by the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice Antitrust Division, litigated private cases involving class actions as well as disputes between competitors and conducted  internal investigations, assessing potential risk and advising on ways to mitigate that risk. Mr. Roush has developed a particular niche representing clients in the life sciences and automotive industries.

As lead counsel, Mr. Roush has succeeded in having cases dismissed at both the motion to dismiss and summary judgment stages. He also has assisted in procuring favorable settlements of federal antitrust and consumer protection claims as well as false claims and antikickback cases in various industries, including technology, health care, defense, aeronautics and medical devices.

About Corey W. Roush

Mr. Roush has extensive experience responding to administrative subpoenas, civil investigative demands and other government requests for information. He has worked with clients in successfully resolving civil and criminal investigations in areas that include the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He also frequently conducts internal investigations for companies arising out of whistle-blower allegations, qui tam lawsuits and other allegations of misconduct.

As a frequent author, Mr. Roush has published numerous articles on antitrust law and other topics. He also speaks often on antitrust litigation and legislative issues.

Mr. Roush received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.
