In its article “Amazon HQ Looks Like Windfall for Washington Area Law Firms,” Bloomberg quoted Akin Gump Washington, D.C. partner in charge Tony Pierce on the impact of Amazon’s selection of D.C. suburb Arlington, Va., as the site of one of its new headquarters.

Pierce, who served as chair of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, noted that “This can only be good for the region and for the legal market here,” adding that large companies with a significant presence in D.C. and its environs typically need a wide range of legal services, with Amazon being no exception. He pointed to Amazon Web Services, the company’s cloud computing component, based in Northern Virginia, as an example already in place.
