Akin Gump public law and policy partner Brendan Dunn has been quoted in POLITICO’s “Transition Playbook,” which looks at news pertaining to the next presidential administration.

The article reports that, in a Republican-led Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could have veto power over any cabinet picks that a President Biden makes, were the former Vice President to be declared the winner of this week’s election.

For his part, Dunn said he does not expect Senate Republicans to block Biden’s nominees en masse if Biden wins, and Republicans hold the chamber. “The idea that there are certain people that are verboten — that doesn’t seem right to me,” he said. “If Joe Biden wants to pick an ideologically progressive individual to run his Department of the Treasury, it’s his Department of the Treasury.”
