Brendan Dunn, a partner in the public law and policy practice at Akin Gump, has been quoted by The Hill in the article “New Senate majority jolts K Street.” The results of the two runoff elections in Georgia, which flipped the balance of power in the Senate in favor of the Democrats, once Vice President-elect Kamala Harris takes office has, the article says, given business groups and lobbying firms a jolt.

Those connected to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and other top Senate Republicans are now shifting gears, according to The Hill, and hoping a Democratic-controlled Washington will try to tackle some bipartisan issues.

“I think the big shift here is one of priorities,” said Dunn. “The business community will undoubtedly be playing more defense than they otherwise would have been. But there will be bipartisan opportunities on big things like appropriations and infrastructure and on more tailored things like retirement policy.”
