(Houston) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that Christine LaFollette, partner in charge of its Houston office, has been named to the 2019 DirectWomen Board Institute, to be held in New York City in October. DirectWomen’s mission is to increase the representation of women lawyers on corporate boards.

The 2019 DirectWomen class comprises general counsel of Fortune 500 companies, partners at top law firms and leading lawyers from academia, representing a wide range of business knowledge and experience in their industries. Participants for the Board Institute, who are identified through a rigorous search and selection process that involves a written application, reference letters and a committee selection panel, will have the opportunity to interact with leading CEOs, directors of large public companies and top representatives of executive search firms.

Last year, Ms. LaFollette was recognized as one of Law360’s Influential Women in Energy Law. (Click here to read more.)
