CNBC Quotes Christopher Spicer on China’s Burgeoning Film Market

Akin Gump entertainment and media counsel Christopher Spicer was quoted by CNBC for its article “Who’s betting big on China’s growing box office” on the growth of that country’s domestic film market and its relationship to the U.S. film industry.

Citing industry projections that spending at Chinese box offices will skyrocket 88.5 percent between 2013 and 2018, CNBC quoted Spicer as saying, “It's a huge, relatively untapped market. There's an upper-middle-class population that hasn't had a lot of movie screens.”

Spicer, who also teaches at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, was named among Hollywood’s “New Leaders” by Variety in 2013 (read more here).
