College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Inducts Don Livingston
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP announced today that Donald R. Livingston, a partner in the firm’s Washington office, has been elected to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Founded in 1995 through an initiative of the Council of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law, the College is a nonprofit professional association honoring leading labor and employment lawyers nationwide. The College currently numbers 660 members in 41 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada.
Membership in the College is by invitation only, awarded to those who have demonstrated the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards; the highest level of character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership; a commitment to fostering and furthering the objectives of the College; sustained, exceptionally high-quality services to clients, the bar, the bench and the public; and significant evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing and/or published writings on labor and employment law.
A former general counsel of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Mr. Livingston represents large employers in all aspects of civil rights and employment discrimination law, with an emphasis on employment litigation. He has written numerous articles and spoken extensively on employment discrimination and labor arbitration, serving as chapter chair for Employment Discrimination Law (Lindemann & Grossman) and as a contributor to Sexual Harassment in Employment Law (Lindemann & Kadue). In addition, he is listed in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in America, and was one of 26 management lawyers named to The National Law Journal’s “Who’s Who of Employment/Labor Lawyers” (July 28, 1997).
