Congressional Quarterly has profiled Akin Gump public law and policy partner Clete Willems in the article “Clete Willems is trading in the White House for K Street.” The publication follows Willems’ career path, from working as a congressional aide to then-Rep. Paul Ryan, then as an attorney in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, before becoming Deputy Assistant to the President for International Economics and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council under President Trump. Willems was also the lead U.S. negotiator in trade talks with China and served as President Trump’s guide to the G7 and G20 summits.

Last month, Willems joined Akin Gump, where he is advising companies and business associations with international trade and domestic policy issues. (Click here to learn more.)
