Akin Gump corporate partners Dan Lynch and Matt Kapinos were featured in the Corporate Counsel Business Journal article “An Exciting New Era for Energy,” discussing what the future holds for the renewable energy sector.

Lynch and Kapinos begin by discussing the outlook for renewables, with Kapinos observing that “with a Democratic controlled government, we will probably start to see more regulatory and other influences to help accelerate the energy transition.” Lynch said that will likely include batteries, which he described as “the future,” and carbon sequestration, where he expects to see corporations “start thinking about not only whether they are 100 percent renewable but also what kind of carbon impact they are having with their renewable projects.”

The article then turns to what financial institutions are doing to plan for M&A and project finance transactions in the renewable energy space as well as how the recent focus on ESG has affected the renewables industry.
