David Burton Pens Article on Trends in Public Equity Transactions for Developers

David Burton, partner in Akin Gump’s tax practice, has authored the article “How Wind Developers Raise Equity in Public Markets,” which appeared in the May issue of North American Windpower magazine.
In the article, Burton addresses three recent trends in public equity transactions for developers: Yieldcos, listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the declining use of real estate investment trusts (REITs). Burton observes that large developers are favoring yieldcos, while the smaller ones are looking to markets like the TSX Venture Exchange for their equity due to Canada’s “more user-friendly securities laws.”
