Don Livingston Quoted in South Florida Business Journal from EEOC Discrimination Panel

The South Florida Business Journal reported on a panel discussion held in Miami by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission examining the topic of race and ethnic discrimination in the workplace, in which Akin Gump labor and employment partner Don Livingston participated.

The program, according to the article, was meant to exchange ideas on how to combat bias issues. Miami was chosen, the article noted, partially because of its ethnically diverse population and wide range of employers in the state.

Panelists and commission members agreed, the article says, that the majority of responsibility falls on the employers to foster a workplace in which any demographic can succeed. Livingston, a former EEOC general counsel, said, “Diversity can’t be an initiative, it has to be part of the corporate culture.”
