Ed Zaelke Discusses Wind Project Finance and Maintenance with Windpower Monthly

In Windpower Monthly, for its article “A lifetime service regime for your wind assets,” Akin Gump global project finance practice co-head Ed Zaelke discussed maximizing the efficiency and longevity of wind projects.

The article states that prudent spending is a key factor for the long-term operation and maintenance of a project. Zaelke added, “It's a question of legal and financial engineering to optimize projects—how do you combine people and technology?”

Among other topics, Zaelke discussed the end of the 10-year production tax credit for U.S. projects and noted that owners, often after five years, will focus less on financing and, instead, look to sell the project and emphasize increments in performance.
