Eduardo Canales Speaks with Texas Young Lawyers Association for Podcast on Becoming an Oil and Gas Lawyer

Akin Gump oil and gas associate Eduardo Canales spoke with the Texas Young Lawyers Association for its “Young Gunners” podcast series. Canales discussed the different careers a young lawyer can pursue in the energy industry, particularly in oil and gas.
The podcast begins with Canales speaking about his career to date. He note that he got his first exposure to oil and gas work while in law school, but moving to Houston has exposed him to “the most sophisticated transactions in the industry.”
Canales points out that to be a good oil and gas attorney, “you have to know everything else that a regular attorney” knows, such as M&A or securities. It’s a “constant learning experience,” he says, adding that, “one of the key elements of success [for a younger attorney] is to show initiative and hunger.”
