Greg Guice Quoted by AIN Online on New European Drone Regulations
Greg Guice, senior counsel in Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice, was quoted in the AIN Online article “Europe Advances Small Drone Regulations, ‘U-Space’ System” regarding new drone rules in Europe, where Guice serves as manager and director of operations of the Brussels, Belgium-based Drone Alliance Europe (DAE).
According to the article, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament plan meetings next month to reconcile their positions on amending the framing regulation of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to incorporate drones. Guice, speaking at a meeting of the International Aviation Club in Washington, D.C., said they hope to finish the process by the middle of the year.
EASA convened an expert working group in November to review the draft regulations, the article notes. Guice, whose group was formed last year to represent drone technology companies before European political leaders and regulators, said, the EU aviation safety agency, which is based in Cologne, Germany, plans to release a notice of proposed amendment in March.
