Bloomberg Law has published the article “INSIGHT: Decoding CCPA’s Final Regulations Before Act Takes Effect,” written by Natasha Kohne and Michelle Reed, co-heads of Akin Gump’s cybersecurity, privacy and data protection practice, along with counsel Molly Whitman and associates Rachel Kurzweil and Shelly Kim.

The article examines the California attorney general’s proposed regulations for the California Consumer Privacy Act and looks at what businesses that are subject to the law must consider in order to ensure compliance as they prepare to implement the regulations.

Some of the key provisions, the authors write, pertain to the collection of personal information, the posting of privacy policies online and methods for submitting opt-out requests. The enforcement date of the law is set for July 1.
