Akin Gump U.S. managing partner Kim Koopersmith has been named to Law360’s 2012 list of America’s Most Innovative Managing Partners.
In its selection, Law360 considered the lead role that Koopersmith has taken for almost 20 years in “creating and expanding advancement opportunities for women and minorities both inside and outside of the firm.” Among the accomplishments cited in this regard is her work on Akin Gump’s Reduced Workload Policy, which allows attorneys to work reduced schedules in order to provide family care while retaining promotion eligibility.
Koopersmith’s efforts to expand diversity at Akin Gump are also noted, including her role in expanding the firm’s participation in pipeline programs, such as the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity program, that place minority college students en route to law school as well as law students into summer internships.
Her role in promoting and guiding Akin Gump’s Women’s Professional Development initiative and the firm’s revamped professional development program is also discussed in this profile.
