Intellectual Property Trial Lawyer Michael Kahn Joins Akin Gump in New York

(New York) – Akin Gump today announced that Michael P. Kahn has joined the firm as a partner in its intellectual property practice in New York. Mr. Kahn is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on patent infringement disputes and related claims, such as trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition and breach of contract. He comes to Akin Gump from Ropes & Gray, where he was a partner. Mr. Kahn started his career at Fish & Neave, prior to its combination with Ropes & Gray.

Mr. Kahn has worked on cases involving all areas of intellectual property litigation, including discovery, Markman hearings, trial and appeal, and his past work spans a variety of technologies in district courts across the country and before the International Trade Commission and American Arbitration Association. His case experience extends to many industries, including materials science, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, e-commerce, software, consumer products and electrical, chemical, computer science and mechanical engineering.

About Michael P. Kahn

In addition to his intellectual property litigation work, Mr. Kahn advises clients on intellectual property licensing, planning and strategy from a portfolio management perspective as well as in anticipation of litigation for both patent owners and potential defendants. He also represents clients in connection with Patent Office inter partes review proceedings.

Mr. Kahn is a frequent speaker and author on topics related to developing and cutting-edge areas of intellectual property law. He also has been actively involved in pro bono representations throughout his career, working most recently on multiple matters concerning asylum applications, petitions before the New York Department of State, and custody and visitation Family Court matters.

Mr. Kahn received his J.D. from Fordham University Law School and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
