John Marciano Quoted in The Tennessean on Outlook for Solar Development
John Marciano, a partner in the global project finance practice at Akin Gump, has been quoted by The Tennessean in the article “Solar outlook brightens in lagging Tennessee.”
The article reports that the Southeast United States lags other parts of the country in solar development, despite its abundant sunshine. Solar generation is becoming an increasingly attractive power option to large companies, the article notes, though its development in Tennessee is still not reaching its potential.
There has, however, been strong interest in investing in solar companies, according to the article, with institutional investors, such as infrastructure and hedge funds as well as insurance companies, all showing interest. Marciano said, “People are coming into the industry to make money rather than have green ambitions. That’s how you make the industry sustainable.”
