Justin Williams, a partner in Akin Gump’s litigation practice, has been quoted in a post on The Wall Street Journal’s Risk & Compliance Journal blog about the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Speaking about the bashing of banks and bankers by the FCA since the financial crisis, Williams said, “There’s a slightly changed environment” with the appetite for tough enforcement having “waned a little” in the wake of threats last year from banks, such as HSBC Holdings PLC, to relocate.

Williams added, “The sense is there’s a concern about protecting the financial services industry in the U.K…I think it’s significantly driven by a sense of national economic interest.”
