“The Outlook On Drug Pricing And Surprise Billing In Congress,” an article by Akin Gump public law and policy partners Martha Kendrick and John Jonas, senior advisor Todd Tuten, senior policy advisor Julie Nolan and senior public policy specialist Sean Feely, has been published by Law360.
The article is based on a policy client alert published by Akin Gump in early August (click here to read more) and discusses what the authors characterize as the recent “flurry of activity in Congress” concerning prescription drug pricing and surprise medical bills.
The authors look first at drug pricing and review the proposed legislation from several Senate committees, as well as from three House committees and discuss the likely White House response to a Democratic versus a bilateral bill, as well as the administration’s own proposed rule.
Moving on to the topic of surprise billing, the authors, similarly, look at bills coming out of both chambers of Congress and conclude that they “expect a very active autumn as House and Senate leadership attempt to find a path forward on drug pricing and surprise billing.”
