Law360 Quotes Rex Heinke on Major Cases Before SCOTUS in New Term
For its article “October Showdown,” Law360 has quoted Akin Gump Supreme Court and appellate co-head Rex Heinke on one of the major cases to be heard and decided by the Court in its new Term: Gill v. Whitford.
The case, which, according to the article, focuses on the constitutionality of state redistricting plans that give one political party an advantage over another in state elections.
Heinke said, “The Gill case goes right to the very structure of how American democracy works. If the court finds partisan gerrymandering violates the Constitution, it will change the whole way that legislative districts are drawn … in most states.”
