Akin Gump real estate partner Marc Epstein is quoted in the Law360 article “RE Law Has Become Much More Than Deals And Dirt” about the changes real estate lawyers have seen in their respective practices over the years.
The article says real estate law has changed “drastically” amid a plethora of new laws and regulations affecting the industry. Because of this, Epstein points out that real estate attorneys today need “to understand the entire transaction and not simply the real estate component that he or she is responsible for.” This, the article adds, means a new understanding of topics that include tax law, securities law, environmental law and risk management.
