Mark Aitken Quoted in Washington Internet Daily and POLITICO on Trump Admin. Efforts to Fund and Keep Pace with Changes in Drone Industry

Washington Internet Daily has quoted Akin Gump senior policy advisor Mark Aitken in the article “FAA Officials Reassure Drone Industry Rules Are Changing to Keep Up With Growth.” The article reports on efforts by the Federal Aviation Administration to keep pace with changes in the drone industry.

Aitken observed that the Trump administration is making the right moves on drones. “There’s a recognition by the FAA that there are opportunities to be doing things a little bit more efficiently and they do need to keep up with the pace of innovation. There’s an open dialogue,” he said, pointing out that the move to keep up with change started under the Obama administration, which held a White House workshop on drones in August 2016. “The attention from across both administrations underscores that this industry isn’t going away, they need to pay attention to it.”

With regard to funding for the FAA so it can pay for its drone-related activities, Aitken told POLITICO Pro that many revenue models are not viable since the industry is so young.
