Michael Rossetti Quoted in Law360 Story on Law Firm Preparations for Increased State AG Actions
Akin Gump public law and policy partner Michael Rossetti has been quoted in the Law360 story “How Law Firms Can Prepare For More State AG Actions,” regarding the steps being taken by law firms in advance of an expected uptick in enforcement activities by state attorneys general. According to the article, law firms need to prepare for an influx of new state-led actions.
Rossetti, a former chief deputy to the New York attorney general who advises clients on state attorney general-related issues, said it is a matter of practicality as much as politics. “Some attorneys general have in their calculus — in addition to protecting state interests — making a political point as well,” he acknowledged, but he added that a rollback in federal regulation would likely result in a wave of consumer complaints, and consequent state attorney general activity, that would “transcend partisan affiliation.”
