(New York, New York) – The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has named Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as the recipient of the 2007 Thomas L. Sager Award for the Northeast Region, the firm announced today. The award was presented on November 7 at the MCCA’s annual Diversity Dinner in New York City.
“We are very pleased that the Minority Corporate Counsel Association has once again recognized Akin Gump’s commitment to developing and maintaining a diverse workforce of talented lawyers,” said R. Bruce McLean, Akin Gump’s chairman. “We are proud of our record of success in the recruitment, retention and promotion of minorities and women and are committed to building upon it.”
Akin Gump previously received the Sager Award in 1999, 2001 and 2002. It is one of only two law firms to have won the award four times.
The Sager Award was created as a tribute to DuPont Associate General Counsel Thomas L. Sager, who has demonstrated a relentless commitment to increasing diversity in the legal profession. Given to inspire others to lead by example and create meaningful solutions, the Sager Award recognizes law firms that have shown a sustained effort to improve the hiring, retention and promotion of minority attorneys.
