Monte Jackel Quoted in Tax Notes Today on Creation of Task Forces to Oversee Regulatory Reform Efforts

Tax Notes Today has quoted Monte Jackel, senior counsel in the tax practice at Akin Gump, in the article “Deregulation Enforcement Coming in Shape of Task Forces,” regarding President Trump’s recent executive order that will create task forces within federal agencies to impose the administration’s regulatory reform efforts.

The article reports that the executive order calls for the task forces to seek input from effected entities, and then report their progress and identify regulations in 90 days that should be modified or repealed. Jackel, however, said the task force members listed do not seem appropriate for reviewing tax regulations.

Jackel also said it will be difficult to apple some of the standards outlined by President Trump to the tax regulations, adding, “without more concrete standards that set out parameters for tax regulations,” application of the standards set forth by the president would be nearly impossible.
