Opalesque, a news service catering to the alternative investment sector, discusses the Akin Gump client alert “Foreign Investor Approval Reached Record Highs in 2012 as China Revised QFII Regulations on Foreign Exchange” in an article published today.

The alert looks at the impact of substantial regulatory reforms implemented in 2012 of the qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII) scheme that allows foreign institutional investors to invest in China’s capital markets.   The regulatory changes made by the China Securities Regulatory Committee (CSRC) and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) resulted in dramatic increases in the number of QFII licenses issued by CSRC and annual investment quotas granted by SAFE.
