Reuters quoted Akin Gump Supreme Court practice head Pratik Shah in its article, “High-stakes business cases take center stage at U.S. high court” on the business cases, including one involving online television startup Aereo, being reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The article states that the court will be making decisions on several cases regarding the “viability of securities class action lawsuits” and “the legal rules for patenting software,” regarding which, Shah said, “there isn't a singular blockbuster" compared to recent years’ health care and marriage equality cases. He added, however, that the Court’s decisions in pending securities class action and software patent cases could have significant consequences for businesses.

Regarding the case of American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. v. Aereo, Inc., in which broadcasters are suing the online cable-streaming service that allows subscribers to stream television content on their computers and mobile devices without a cable subscription, Shah noted regarding the Court’s view, "There was no love lost for Aereo."
