“Drones and Urban Air Mobility in the President’s Budget,” an article co-written by Akin Gump communications partner Jennifer Richter based on an Akin Gump client alert she co-authored, has been published in The Journal of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence & Law.

The article highlights some of the proposed financial resources that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have requested, via the FY 2020 White House budget proposal, for projects to advance integration of unmanned aircraft systems into the National Airspace System and to realize the potential of urban air mobility.

Among the systems and initiatives discussed and reviewed in the article are DOT’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program and its Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability, FAA’s Unmanned Traffic Management system and NASA’s Airspace Operations and Safety Program.
