(Washington, D.C.) – Daniel Nash, a labor and employment partner at Akin Gump, has been named one of Sports Business Journal’s Power Lawyers.

Nash, the publication notes, is a management-side labor lawyer who has represented the National Football League’s Management Council for more than 25 years. He has been involved with high-profile cases involving the discipline of players such as Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy and Tom Brady.

Nash has also represented the NFL in a range of arbitrations and proceedings involving players and their union. Sports Business Journal notes he was the lead lawyer for the league in April when an arbitrator upheld the NFL’s policy of placing players on paid leave during pending cases of personal conduct.

The Power Lawyers are described as those individuals “in the middle of the biggest deals in sports [who] have access to the top executives.”
