Tatman Savio Named “Best Regulatory Lawyer of the Year” at Women in Compliance Awards 2016
(Hong Kong) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that international trade partner Tatman Savio has been named the “Best Regulatory Lawyer of the Year’” at the Women in Compliance Awards 2016, held yesterday in London.
The Annual Women in Compliance Awards were created to recognize and celebrate “the successes and achievements of female compliance professionals from across the corporate spectrum.”
Ms. Savio, who is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong, counsels clients with global operations on U.S. law and policy affecting international trade and business, including sanctions programs, anticorruption laws, anti-money laundering laws, export control laws and antiboycott regulations. She also represents clients in national security reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
Ms. Savio’s work in relation to compliance includes developing and implementing compliance programs and strategies to address concerns arising under international trade laws and managing internal investigations and related enforcement issues associated with potential violations of these laws. She also assists clients with international investment decisions and transactions by conducting trade-related due diligence, evaluating potential CFIUS concerns and developing strategies to mitigate international trade compliance liabilities in global business transactions.
In February 2015, Ms. Savio relocated to Hong Kong from the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, becoming the firm’s first trade-focused partner in Hong Kong.
