Tom Trimble Quoted in Project Finance International on Zoetic Global’s Power Purchase Agreement in Ghana
Project Finance International has quoted Akin Gump cross-border transactions partner Tom Trimble in the article “Hydro upgrade potential examined” regarding a recent deal in which he advised Zoetic Global on a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana. The deal calls for 100 megawatts of additional power to be provided at the Akosombo Dam on Ghana’s Lake Volta.
The article notes that the deal is the first of several Zoetic expects to seal across Africa by adding capacity to under-performing plants. The company, according to the article, is said to have looked at similar dams in the Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Uganda.
Trimble said, “With the capability to bring large-scale facilities [100MW–300MW] rapidly on line, Zoetic has opened up new investment and financing opportunities for hydro, while at the same time helping African governments meet the immediate challenges of country-wide electric power shortages.”
