(New York) – Akin Gump financial restructuring partner Abid Qureshi has been named to Turnarounds & Workouts’ list of Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers for 2019.
As part of its profile of him, T&W spotlighted several of Mr. Qureshi’s recent matters, including:
- Guiding FirstEnergy Solutions’ $5 billion debt restructuring.
- Representing an ad hoc committee of senior unsecured noteholders in PG&E’s $30+ billion cases, successfully litigated to terminate exclusivity, allowing the ad hoc group and tort claimants’ committee to submit a competing plan.
- Advising the unsecured creditors’ committee in Sears’ $5 billion restructuring and successfully negotiating a liquidating plan that establishes a trust to pursue claims against the company’s former CEO, his hedge fund and other parties.
